Midtowne Crossing is a mixed-use, commercial and residential development located in downtown Fort Wayne, Indiana. The project was the culmination of a long-term vision, effectively eliminating a half block of blighted and deteriorated
buildings, replacing them with a pleasing mix of renovated historic structures and new construction. It was achieved through the partnership of a private developer and the Fort Wayne Redevelopment Commission.
Initially envisioned as the Alley Mall in the 1970s, the idea was resurrected as The Courtyards in 1982, finally coming to life as Midtowne Crossing in 1989. Demolition of the blighted buildings and refurbishment of the historic buildings began in January 1989 and construction was complete by the fall of 1990.
The property consists of six commercial and 104 residential condominiums, plus two parking garages. The six buildings in the project include four historic structures: Fort Wayne Printing, Blackstone, Schmitz Block and Kresge-Groth; and two new-construction buildings: Hutner and Lillie.
Our commercial condominiums house Double Dragon and Jimmy Johns restaurants, Fort Wayne Downtown Improvement District, Allen County Bar Association, and Keller Williams Fort Wayne. All condominiums are privately held by owner-occupants or by investor-owners.
The owners association is managed by a Board of Directors, which is made up of and elected by the condominium owners. Midtowne Crossing employs an on-site, professional manager and custodial staff for upkeep of the common property and administration of the association's day-to-day business.
Amenities at Midtowne Crossing include nicely furnished, controlled-access lobbies for the residents; a roof-top patio with landscaping, seating and grills; a courtyard; two exercise facilities; coin-operated laundry machines on each floor; conveniently located trash disposal; and individual storage lockers.
